The School of Engineering is involved in the HMIExcel project since October 2011, following the preparation of the project’s application. According to João Monteiro, Dean of the EEUM, the project “embodies the best of UMinho and of its School of Engineering in the interaction with the economic and industrial network”. “We will keep working together with strengthened knowledge from now on”, he adds.
During the closing ceremony, the Portuguese Prime Minister, Pedro Passos Coelho, visited Bosch Car Multimedia Portugal’s facilities in Braga, Portugal, and revealed to be very pleased with the project’s success. The Prime Minister had already accompanied the project’s official launch ceremony in 2013.
The partnership will carry on. In the next three years, an investment of 56 million euros for the development of 38 new projects is expected. The German company, located in Braga, is planning on hiring a thousand more employees until 2020.
